Richmond International Airport, VA (September 6, 2016)

WEEKLONG WAIVER PERIOD EXTENDED FOR THE 4TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

At the August meeting of the Capital Region Airport Commission, members unanimously supported a resolution to waive the $0.06 per gallon fuel flowage fee for general aviation aircraft using fixed base operators (FBOs) at Richmond International Airport during the September NASCAR week.

The fuel flowage fee waiver is in effect for the period beginning 12:01 a.m. September 5, 2016, to 11:59 p.m. September 12, 2016.

“We are very appreciative of the tremendous turn out by fans using private planes, sponsors in corporate aircraft, and race teams shuttling in and out during NASCAR race weeks at Richmond International Raceway,” said Jon E. Mathiasen, AAE, president and CEO of the airport. “NASCAR is big business in Richmond, with a noticeable increase in passenger traffic in the terminal and parked aircraft on the ramp. We intend to provide the warmest welcome possible.”

This is the fourth year that RIC has waived fuel flowage fees for at least one race weekend.
