Spirit Adds New Flights to Detroit from Richmond

New Route Expands Affordable Travel Options from RIC Starting June 12

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond International Airport (RIC) is pleased to announce that Spirit Airlines will launch new nonstop service to Detroit (DTW) starting June 12, 2025. This addition marks Spirit’s fourth destination from Richmond, joining recently announced service to New York-LaGuardia (LGA), as well as existing service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Orlando (MCO).

“Spirit’s announcement of new service to Detroit is welcome news,” said Perry J. Miller, Ph.D., A.A.A., I.A.P., president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission. “With the several route additions announced in recent weeks, travelers gain options that accommodate different schedules and budgets while the Airport continues its campaign to better connect the Richmond region to the world.”

The RIC-DTW route will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Tickets are available now at Spirit.com.

Spirit first began serving Richmond on March 15, 2018.
