VMFA’s “Unlinked: Photographs by Matthew Warren” Exhibition Opens at RIC
Jun 24, 2013
RICHMOND, VA (June 24, 2013) – An exhibition of photographs by Richmond-based artist Matthew Warren, called “Unlinked: Photographs by Matthew Warren,” opens today at Richmond International Airport (RIC). The show will be on view in the first level of the terminal through October 2013.
In these vibrant and eye-catching photographs, Warren takes a look at the art of the photographic process, from early dark room prints to current Photoshop techniques.
“I look at this body of work as a mis-documentation that creates a strong yet false connection to, and knowledge of, the object,” said Warren. “My use of layered imagery and processes works to reinforce this relationship. Though these images use misdirection, they are still a documentation of the evolution of photography from analog to digital.”
Warren lives and works in Richmond, Virginia, and is the recipient of a 2013 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Award.
