VMFA’s “Reflections Of Our Past” Exhibition Opens at RIC

RICHMOND, Virginia (February 25, 2013)

An exhibition of photographs by Virginia artist Aaron Sanders, called “Reflections of Our Past,” opens today at Richmond International Airport (RIC). The show will be on view in the first level of the terminal through June 2013.

In these photographs, Sanders captures reflections not only of that illustrious history but also of the enduring spirit and continuing progress of the city on the James.

“Enduring a revolution and a civil war that nearly burnt the city to the ground, Richmond has experienced many ups and downs,” said Sanders. “But like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, the spirit of Richmond and its inhabitants keep moving forward. The Richmond of today, with historical architecture set against towering skyscrapers, creates even more stories for future generations to come.”

Sanders lives and works in Richmond, Virginia, and was the recipient of a 2010 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Award.
