RIC Partners with LanguageLine Solutions® to Offer Interpretation Services for More Than 240 Languages

As International Visitation Grows, RIC Adds Service to Help Reduce Language Barriers

Richmond International Airport (RIC) announces that it has partnered with LanguageLine Solutions to initiate the availability of interpretation services in the passenger terminal.

“When we say we seek to offer an exceptional travel experience for all customers, we mean all customers,” said Perry J. Miller, Ph.D., A.A.A., I.A.P., president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission. “LanguageLine is an innovative solution, efficiently bringing interpretative language access to our international visitors. We estimate that nearly 10 percent of our customers are taking the domestic portion of an international journey, so the potential need is significant.”

Richmond International Airport’s partnership with LanguageLine Solutions ensures a safer, more inclusive, and welcoming experience for all passengers, regardless of the language they speak. While any mobile device may be used to access the service, RIC will also locate phones in ticketing, the lower-level Arrivals area, and both concourses to support LanguageLine access.

With instant access to professional interpreters in over 240 languages-including American Sign Language-airport staff can communicate clearly and effectively whenever language barriers arise. This on-demand support helps passengers who speak limited English or are Deaf and Hard of Hearing feel more confident and informed throughout their journey.
