Highest Monthly Passenger Count Ever Reported at RIC

For October 2023, Richmond International Airport (RIC) reports 440,736 total passengers, the busiest month ever recorded at the Airport. Passenger traffic increased 13.3 percent compared to the same period a year ago and surpassed the previous record set three months earlier in July. October 2023 was the eighth consecutive record month at RIC.

For 2023 to date, passenger traffic has increased 17.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

In other activity, October’s total cargo increased 28.8 percent to 18.3 million pounds. Cargo continues to report substantial gains, up 33.3 percent and 25.0 percent, respectively, for the calendar and fiscal years. Additionally, aircraft operations increased 10.8 percent versus October 2022.  

Commercial activity at RIC reflects operations by Allegiant, American, Breeze, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country (seasonal), United and their regional airline affiliates, as well as cargo operations by Amazon, DHL, FedEx, and UPS.
